IntroductionOperating room workers are at risk of experiencing adverse effects due to occupational exposure waste anesthetic gases (WAGs). One the consequences long-term WAGs is probability developing deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) damage. This systematic review investigated link between and DNA damage in operating workers.MethodsPubMed, Science Direct, ProQuest, Scopus, EbscoHost, as well hand-searching, were used find literature on relationship Three independent reviewers independently assessed study's quality. Meta-analysis was conducted for several indicators, such comet assay (DNA score, tail's length, percentage), micronuclei formation, total chromosomal aberration.ResultsThis included 29 eligible studies (2732 participants). The majority a cross-sectional design. From our meta-analysis, which compared extent unexposed group, exposed had significantly higher indicator, including percentage, aberration (p < 0.05) than non-exposed group.ConclusionWaste have been found impact indicators personnel, assay, development, aberration. To reduce exposure, hospital personnel should take preventive measures, by adapting scavenger method.
